It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
